About BagCrete
BagCrete answers one question well: how many bags of concrete a job actually takes, using the yields printed on the bags, not folklore. Every calculator on the site starts from geometric volume and those published yields. Patio slabs, fence-post holes, sonotube footings, and gravel bases under a pad all go through the same path.
Methodology
All calculators compute geometric volume (slab, cylinder, or hole-minus-post) and divide by standard published bag yields: 80 lb → 0.60 ft³, 60 lb → 0.45 ft³, 50 lb → 0.375 ft³, 40 lb → 0.30 ft³. These match the yield tables published by the major US bagged-concrete manufacturers (Quikrete, Sakrete) for standard and fast-setting concrete mix. Counts round up, with an optional 5–10% waste allowance. Cost estimates use the bag price you enter.
Limitations
Yields vary slightly by product and how wet you mix. Always check your bag and round up. Guidance on thickness, post depth and footings reflects common US practice, but local building codes and frost depths govern; structural work (footings, retaining walls, anything supporting a structure) should be designed and, where required, permitted and inspected.
